Music: see Gustavo Dudamel direct the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra for free

Tickets for the evening concert of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra directed by Gustavo Dudamel have already sold out (and cost up to £75), but if you’re free at lunchtime you can see the Orchestra and Dudamel in rehearsal for free. (For more information on Dudamel, see one of our earlier posts on him here and for an insight into how the orchestra transforms the lives of some of Venezuela’s poorest children, see an article from The Guardian here).  A brilliant way to see how Dudamel draws such sublime music from these young musicians, we can’t quite believe that all these tickets haven’t been snapped up already.  If you’re not a member of the Southbank, you’ll need to pay the £1.75 transaction fee but it’s a small price to pay, we think, to see such a star director and his orchestra in action.
