We were lucky enough to see a special preview screening of Leaving, a new drama by Tony Marchant (who wrote Public Enemies and Garrow’s Law), which starts this Monday on ITV. It stars Helen McCrory as a married mother of two teenagers, who works hard as the deputy manager at a hotel popular for wedding parties, and whose life changes when a young man comes to work as a waiter on her team. McCrory, who is so good on stage at the moment in the National’s Last of the Haussmans, is pitch perfect in this (the rest of the cast is also great): a drama which is brilliantly observed, sexy and rings true. Directed by Gaby Delall, whose 2005 film, On a Clear Day, we also love (get it on DVD), this is TV worth staying in for. See the trailer below for a little taste.
