Music: book now for Devendra Banhart at the Barbican

The Venezuelan singer, songwriter and artist is back with a new album, Mala, and a gig at the Barbican.  Devendra (whose middle name is Obi after Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars) grew up in Venezuela before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 14.  He has collaborated with Antony and the Johnsons, Beck and performed at the Hollywood Bowl with Gilberto Gil as well as working with other artists such as Doug Aitken.  He’s a true polyglot and yet it’s his music that we love the most.  Charming, whimsical and often humorous, his music has a genuine feeling of intimacy that makes for great concerts.  Tickets only just went on sale for this gig in July but they are selling out quickly – you can still get seats at the sides and the back – so don’t delay and get booking.
