London Fashion Week Hot-List

Fashion week kicks off this week-end and with it comes plenty of stylish openings and pop up events. Italian and American editors who prefer to stay East, are flocking to the latest addition to Shoreditch’s burgeoning hotel scene, the Ace Hotel (100 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JQ) which has just opened around the corner from Shoreditch House and The Boundary. This Portland, Oregon transplant – which also has an outpost in Manhattan’s Midtown among others – will add even more of a hipster vibe to the area with its in-room decks and vinyl and sparse, slightly industrial interiors. It couldn't be further away from Claridges (49 Brook Street, W1K 4HR) where artist in residence – the fashion illustrator David Downton – is staging a pop-up exhibition of some of his portraits featuring the hotel’s favorite fashion guests from Christian Louboutin to Alber Elbaz. It runs throughout fashion week and it's the perfect excuse to pop into the Fumoir for a whiskey sour.

Over the road in Soho Kurt Zdesar ( of Nobu and Ping Pong fame) is opening Chotto Matte  (11-13 Frith Street, W1D 4RB) on Wednesday night and the three floor bar and restaurant promises to be fashion’s chic eaterie of choice. We haven’t had a chance to try the food yet but the emphasis is on modern Japanese food with a raw bar with sushi created by a former chef to the emperor of Japan. If it all gets too serious then we will be indulging in some classic fashion films at the Silent Cinema which is setting up an al-fresco Fashion Film Festival in St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden (St Martin's Courtyard
, Slingsby Place
London, WC2E 9AB). The brilliant Zoolander (we never tire of watching Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson do their walk-off), Grey Gardens and The September Issue will play at 8pm on 15th, 16th and 17th September respectively. For each performance there will be tickets on the door on a first come, first served basis.

Finally it wouldn't be fashion week without at least one splurge. We are big fans of most of the brands that feature in the event's official pop up store The Shop (Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA). Markus Lupfer, Bella Freud, Zoe Jordan and Lulu & Co are among the brands on sale and the store will also be hosting interviews and guest appearances too which will be announced via social media with # TheShop.
