The Winter Cabin at York & Albany

Alpine Pop-Ups

Even if you’re not cutting a trail down powdery slopes this Christmas there’s no reason not to indulge in some Alpine treats at one of any number of wintry pop-ups that are open for business throughout December. There’s the wooden clad rooftop Skylodge in London Fields where you can feast on warming ribs and pulled pork, pancakes and toasted marshmallows in the Lumberjack Diner or head over to Camden’s York & Albany where the beautiful winter cabin nestling in the garden can seat 12 guests for warming cocktails including spiced Bloody Marys and delicious, hearty bar snacks such as venison and red currant sausage rolls or blue cheese with toasted walnuts. But our favorite Alpine pop up has to be the rooftop lodge at Coq D’Argent, complete with fluffy blankets, ski paraphernalia, twinkling fairy lights and cosy heaters. We will be heading directly there for our Savoyard fix of unctuous fondues and rich tartiflette. Seriously, who needs Chamonix?
