Arvon Writing Courses at The Hurst, Shropshire

If you’ve ever considered going on a writing course or retreat then you will probably be familiar with Arvon – a charity that runs diverse courses at tranquil centres in Devon, Scotland Yorkshire and in Shropshire, where the one time home of playwright John Osborne, The Hurst, has been hosting novice writers for the past decade and has just undergone an extensive nine month long renovation. The nineteenth century manor-house set in 26 acres of woodland deep in the lush Shropshire Hills, reopens next month with a diverse line-up of courses in everything from poetry and screenplays to writing for television or working on your debut novel. Across all the centres there’s an inspiring line-up of courses that really does cover all possible areas with an equally good roster of tutors which this year includes Michael Longley, Mark Haddon and Andrew Miller.
