Sunday 8 June 2014, midday – 6pm
We have written before about the brilliant Vauxhall Art Car Boot fair where, for one day only each summer, a rather glittering line-up of artists sell their work directly to the public from the back of new and vintage Vauxhalls. After last year’s bumper 10th anniversary event, the fair is now going on tour first to Liverpool in July and then on to Folkestone in August, but before all that the quirky, fun and frenetic original day of festivities will be held in the East End this Sunday. There are 80 pitches and as usual the line-up is stellar – Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk, Tracey Emin, Polly Morgan and Mat Collishaw to name a few. If you’re serious about buying something significant – prices range from £10 and rarely top £1000 – then arrive early as there is always a queue at the start. And the fair will once again be supporting the London-based charity Just For Kids Law with a charity tent hosted by the Groucho’s Bernie Katz and a heap of rather luxurious bags to be won from Anya Hindmarch, Alice Temperley, Prada, Marni, Lara Bohinc, Angel Jackson and Paul Smith.
