We are spectacularly picky about the candles we burn and with so many great established brands on the market our heads are rarely turned by newcomers but we love the collection from British-made Birch & Brook. As well as being produced here, the smells are distinctly British too – we love the woody, masculine Library with its rich base notes of cedar and moss. And the gorgeously evocative smell of an English garden in the height of summer with peony, hyacinth and lily of the valley that’s captured in the ambrosial Secret Garden. The latest addition is Festival – a heady mix of patchouli, jasmine, orange blossom and sandalwood that conjurs the aroma of a hedonistic gathering in summer. Delicious.
