26 & 27 September 2015
Just when you think that summer is over there’s a brilliant excuse to head back to the seaside as later this month the Aldeburgh Food & Drink festival will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and this really is a food fest like no other. For a start the location at Snape Maltings is stunning and one of our favourite places for a weekend wander along the reedbeds of the river Alde – it’s also a stone’s throw from the gorgeous Suffolk coast. But what most flock here for are the amazing producers, all 90 of them, which includes longhorn beef from Kenton Hall, the most heavenly smoked salmon from Pinneys of Orford, Sutton Hoo chickens (the best in our opinion) and loads more besides. There’s a lot of stuff to buy (just try leaving without bulging bags) but there’s just as much to eat too. Add to that, the line up of chefs doing demos and talks (Anna Hansen from the Modern Pantry, Olia Hercules, Honey & Co, Thomasina Miers, Diana Henry and more). There’s a kids’ tippee with free activities too. But surrounding the whole event is a month long fringe festival with events dotted across the county including tours of the chocolate rooms at Pump Street Bakery. Yum.
