Post-summer beauty

We always find there’s nothing quite like post-summer skin.  Our tan is fading quickly and our skin feels dry and dull.  Thank goodness then for our saviour products that come into play right now, including a slew of brand new ones that have just arrived at the beauty counters.  First up is a gorgeous bronzer from the new capsule collection by Victoria Beckham for Estée Lauder (Victoria Beckham for Estée Lauder Java Sun Bronzer, £48 at Selfridges).  Don’t worry if it looks quite dark in it’s chic leather and gilt compact, as you can start off with just a light layer that gives a wonderful, healthy glow.

Next up, to combat that parched feeling, we love the Diptyque Essential Face Cream (£50 at John Lewis) or if you’re feeling in need of even more enrichment, add a drop from the Diptyque Infused Face Oil (£48 at John Lewis). Both smell amazingly of wild flowers, although it’s the prickly pear flower oleate in the face cream that is apparently responsible for the revitalising effect.

It’s not new but we’re huge fans of the Chantecaille Lip Chic series, particularly the Wild Rose colour (Chantecaille Lip Chic in Wild Rose, £30 at Space NK).  It really does soothe dry lips, glide on like a dream and adds a dash of colour that doesn’t fade away like most lip glosses.

And finally to our feet.  We had a pedicure pre-holiday back in July and since then, aside from sun protection, we’ve not bothered with them much. They are now gratifyingly still brown after a summer spent largely in sandals but also quite dry so we’re very grateful for Prismologie Foot Cream (£28) with wild mango butter and apparently, micro-crystals of sapphire. It’s a rich cream scented with oud (which we happen to love) and best applied before bed, we think, so you can wake up with considerably softer feet.
