We’ve not made a secret of being Bread Ahead fans: learning to make their doughnuts was one of our most purely joyful experiences of last year. And now, these warm-hearted bakers have set up a series of free lunchtime baking classes, starting from this week.
The classes will run every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime at the Borough Market bakery and every Thursday at Pavilion Road and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
During the 20-minute classes, Bread Ahead’s expert bakers will teach a group how to make the perfect sourdough starter based on the bakery’s own signature ‘Mother’ dough, lovingly named Bruce.
Don’t worry, you won’t have to call yours Bruce. You will get to take it home, however, ready to make your own bread. Classes will take place at 12.00pm, 12.30pm and 1.00pm on designated sourdough days – which seems a far better way to spend a lunchtime than furiously catching up on emails or standing in the post office queue.
