Sunday October 15th 2017
We struggle to eat seasonally as much as everyone else but during Autumn, we find ritualised feasts deeply comforting. This can be the homemade feasts of sausages and baked potatoes we have before heading out on Bonfire Night, or the pumpkin soup we eat at Halloween. This Sunday, however, we’ll be letting someone else do the cooking and heading to the Italian restaurant Trullo for their game feast. Only carnivores need apply as the feast will involve roast partridge, accompanied by chicken livers and girolles on crostini. There will also be a pappardelle dish served with a grouse ragu, a variation on their defining dish, pappardelle with beef shin ragu. All the game is sourced from Dunmaglass Estate which Trullo’s chefs visit every year to see the grouse’s habitat and cook for the local gamekeepers. Back in London, the feast will finish with an upside down pear and almond cake with cinnamon custard and is priced just £40 per person or £70 with wine pairing. We will see you there.
