From 25 April 2018
If you missed Akram Khan’s Giselle last year then this is your chance to experience the formidable performance from the English National Ballet. Winner of the 2017 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance the ballet was a sell-out at Sadler’s Wells receiving a plethora of five-star reviews.
The classic romantic ballet has been re-imagined for the 21st century and sees Giselle (Tamara Rojo) as one of a community of migrant workers cast out of their jobs in a condemned clothes factory. With sets and costumes from Academy-Award winning designer Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and an adaptation of Adolphe Adam’s original score by composer Vincenzo Lamagna, the ballet was directed for the screen by Ross MacGibbon.
The first ever cinema release from the English National Ballet, Giselle will be broadcast at selected cinemas around the UK from 25 April 2018. London theatres include the Odeon Shaftesbury Avenue, VUE Islington, Finchley, Westfield and Fulham Broadway. Watch the spellbinding trailer below, and book your tickets early:
