There’s only one thing better than receiving a package from the amazing Parisian ceramicists Astier de Villatte and that’s receiving something from the French firm’s recent collaboration with our other favourite lifestyle brand, John Derian. The two have joined forces to create some really gorgeous pieces all based around Astier’s signature white glazed black clay pottery that’s handmade in Bastille. Derian has applied his decoupage designs including birds and botanicals, eyes and architectural drawings to pretty bowls and plates. The New Yorker has also put his spin on candles filling two limited edition pots with a Provincetown scent which really does smell like the fresh, salty sea air of Cape Cod.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we have quite a stationery fetish. So we were curious to see whether the just-opened stationery room at Liberty’s could fulfill our impossibly high standards. And, oh my, it certainly did. There are Vivienne Westwood notebooks, John Derian paper weights, Christian Lacroix notelets and Manolo Blahnik cards together with a huge range of Moleskin notebooks, cards, wrapping paper, photo albums and ribbons plus, of course, all their Liberty print diaries and stationery which you can have monogrammed at £5 per letter. It is all carefully chosen, beautifully arranged and very hard to walk through without buying something to keep. We tried. And we failed.
