Theatre: book now for Michael Attenborough’s Measure for Measure

Michael Attenborough’s Measure for Measure opens at the Almeida Theatre on next Friday. Attenborough was a Principle Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and this is his first Shakespeare production since he started running the Almeida. This is not a production, then, that anyone is phoning in. The cast includes Anna Maxwell Martin (who was so good and just so different as Sally Bowles in Rufus Norris’ 2006-7 West End production of Cabaret) and Rory Kinnear, who is a big star at the National Theatre (Burnt by the Sun, Man of Mode, etc). Later this year, Kinnear will take on Hamlet in Nicholas Hytner’s first production of the play at the National. Catch him first here as Vincento. Book now or you won’t get tickets: the play hasn’t opened yet but it’s already selling out.
