Readings: book now for 5×15

Emma Forrest talking at 5x15

Set up by Rosie Boycott and two of her friends, 5×15 gathers together five people to tell diverse and true stories of passion, obsession and adventure for 15 minutes each. It’s like a mini literary festival in 75 minutes, and you can even grab a glass of wine and some food whilst you listen. We went this week to check it out and heard the brilliant Fergal Keane talk about the Siege of Kohima in 1944, an epic battle which halted the Japanese invasion of India; Amanda Foreman, author of Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire, on the American Civil War, and Hisham Matar, author of In the Country of Men, whose Libyan father was kidnapped in Cairo in 1990 and has been reported missing ever since. Held at The Tabernacle in Notting Hill, tickets sell out quickly so we’d advise you get your skates on if you want to hear Melvyn Bragg, Mick Hucknall, Anna Pavord, Hugo Vickers and John Bird (The Big Issue) on May 4th, or Will Hutton, Bettany Hughes, Niall Ferguson and Gerald Scarfe on May 16th.

Ongoing - the next talks are on 4 May, 16 May and 20 May. All talks start at 6.45pm
The Tabernacle, 34-35 Powis Square, W11 2AY
