The newly-opened Kêu! doesn’t offer your average selection of sandwiches, it sells Vietnamese Banh Mi. Served between a soft baguette (which chef Hugh Trung Bui developed with Sally Clarke’s bakery) there are five options of stuffings from shredded roast duck and crispy pork to lemon-infused mackerel (we recommend the duck which was superb). And if baguettes aren’t your thing, there are also plenty of fresh salads, soups and curries on offer which most people take away but there is room for about 8 people to eat in. Chef Trung Bui has already proved his expertise at providing traditional Vietnamese fare with a modern update at his two restaurants Cay Tre in Old Street and Viet Grill on Kingsland Road and he has another, Cay Tre Soho, which has just opened on Dean Street. Our vote, however, goes to Kêu! for a must-try and delicious alternative to the usual lunchtime sandwich.
