Restauranteur Russell Norman is on a roll. After opening two Venetian bacaros, Polpo and Polpetto, followed by the American diner, Spuntino, today he officially opens his latest venture, da Polpo in Covent Garden. A large airy space with two floors seating up to 70, da Polpo is a buzzing affair offering delicious pizzetta, arancini and one of their signature dishes, different types of meatballs, which are huge and almost a meal in themselves. You can book for lunch though not for dinner which is annoying but at least there is space at the two bars to have a drink if there’s no table available. It’s a new location for Norman, but the food is cheap – the meatballs cost around £5 depending on the flavour – and the service is friendly and quick: a sure fire recipe for success.
