There is no doubt that this will be an amazing show. The Royal Ballet are pulling out all the stops for their first performance in a UK arena, gathering together their biggest stars to perform Kenneth Macmillian’s classic Romeo and Juliet. Whichever performance you choose, you won’t be disappointed with any of the dancing. (After much sucking of teeth we’ve chosen to see Tamara Rojo and Carlos Acosta, who perform on 17th and 19th June). There are several reasons to see the Royal Ballet at the O2 rather than at their home, the incomparable Royal Opera House. Firstly, it will be a spectacle with a great atmosphere. Secondly, as well as seeing ballet performed on a larger scale than is usual, with all that accompanying drama, there will be video screens so you can see the dancers close up too. And perhaps best of all: ticket prices start at £10. At last: a great opportunity to see a world class ballet company at a really affordable price. Not surprisingly, these cheapest tickests sold out as soon as the ballet date was announced and we cursed ourselves for not being quicker off the mark, but the O2 has just released a whole big new batch, so get booking immediately to nab them before they too are gone.
