Do you know about Selvedge? It’s a really well produced magazine about textiles, which sounds pretty specialised, but if you are interested in interiors, fabrics, fashion, the way things look or even just really good, unusual things to buy, you should take a look at it. We are subscribers, and love entering it’s world every second month even just for awhile. Plus, and do take note of this bit: the folk there run a really good shop, which exists both online, and in Highgate, North London. The shop sells all kinds of unusual and well made things – from utterly charming felt farm animals to French bathroom towels.
Next Saturday, on the 17th September, Selvedge are having their Autumn Fair, in a Church Hall round the corner from their shop (which means you can go to both). There will be about 30 exhibitors there, showing off and selling their wares – cushions, fabrics, hand printed wall paper, knitwear and clothes, blankets and bags, homewares and gifts. Much of it is hand made, some of it is vintage, all of it will be unusual, and beautifully crafted. We’d like an Ellie Evans pin cushion, an Esk Valley sweater and enough Dunfood Wood wallpaper to redo our bedroom please. A great place to find presents for folk who are hard to buy for.
