Book now: Imagine Children’s Festival

The line up for this year’s Imagine Children’s Festival at the Southbank Centre looks as brilliant as ever. There’s loads of great stuff going on daily that you can just drop in on for free, such as an old fashioned fun fair with a carousel and a 1950s helter skelter, regular food workshops at the Real Food Market, and a craft pavilion where kids can get messy and creative, as well as a huge array of ticketed events, none very expensive, and all tempting. We’re particularly excited about the Charles Hazlewood and Philharmonia Orchestra concert, with a choir of 250 schoolchildren, the Roger McGough, Jackie Kay and Lemn Sissay talk (a whistle stop tour of their literary heroes), and Gastronaut Stefan Gates’s show when he’ll blow up food on stage. But we should probably let our kids in on choosing from the programme too – after all, they might prefer to sing songs, listen to stories, become a superhero, swap books, throw moves on the dance floor, hear some stand-up or even learn to make sushi.
