We are huge fans of the Firmdale Hotels group, from the hip Covent Garden Hotel, much loved by celebs, to their elegant NY opening, The Crosby. Owned by Tim and Kit Kemp with design by Kit, the seven hotels manage that unusual feat of being luxurious yet cozy (think divine frette bed linen and marble bathrooms) with added extras such as screening rooms, a pool (at the Haymarket Hotel), an honesty drinks cabinet in the guest sitting rooms plus a host of buzzing bars and restaurants (the Soho Hotel bar is especially good). So we were very excited to hear about the opening of their eighth hotel, the Dorset Square Hotel, this week. (Actually the Dorset Square Hotel was the first property that the Kemps opened but they sold up in 2002 only to rebuy and completely renovate it). A beautiful Regency townhouse in Marylebone with just 38 bedrooms (all the Firmdale Hotels are boutique sized which helps retain a feeling of homeliness), it overlooks a leafy private garden square which was the site of Thomas Lord’s first cricket ground. The Potting Bar and Restaurant are open all day and there is a fireplace in the guest drawing room which will make it irresistible in the winter months.
And if you like the sound of the Dorset Square Hotel, how about staying a night there for free? Yes, that’s right, we are offering one lucky winner a nights stay and breakfast (for two people) in one of their beautiful Superior Rooms which normally cost around £200 (Please note that any other items such as those from the minibar are not included and there are date restrictions when the winner can stay. All this information will be provided to the winner by Firmdale Hotels). Just fill out the form below and we will pick the lucky winner after 5pm on Monday 16th July 2012.
