There is an increasing number of services in London that claim to take all of the inconvenience of grocery shopping out of the equation by delivering a box to your door, be it farm-fresh produce, ready-made diet meals, deli condiments or readily-measured ingredients to cook your meals at home. For the latter, there are a few options but our choice is The Recipe Kit – a recently launched company headed up by an ex Ottolenghi chef. Each week you can choose 3 out of 9 recipes (4 vegetarian options) and they will deliver you kits with all of the ingredients, measured out and beautifully packaged in separate brown paper bags.
There's a Middle-Eastern edge to the recipes; we really loved the creamy megrim sole with tarator sauce and crunchy fattoush salad. Other dishes include saffron chicken with giant couscous and dal with courgette pakoras and grilled squash. They even supply you with music and wine suggestions to enjoy while cooking. The Recipe Kit feels a little like eating out but at home, which is a tempting thought as the weather gets bleaker.
Prices start at £4.90 pp/per meal (when ordering for 4). A-Little Bird readers can receive a 30% discount with the promocode 'LITTLEDINNER'.
