The 7 Fingers – or Les 7 Doigts de le Main – are a Québécois circus company (Québec being the home of modern circus) who have been performing together for twelve years. We first saw their work in 2006 when they performed Traces at Sadlers’ Wells’ Peacock Theatre, and were staggered by it. We weren’t the only ones. Traces became a huge world wide hit – nearly a million people saw it – and it won award after award. Rightly so. The seven founder-performers (or ‘fingers’) in the company are absurdly charismatic and talented, and the show combines traditional acrobatics (performed at the very highest level) with other stuff, from skateboarding and basketball to theatre and contemporary dance. Traces was just brilliant. You wanted it to go on for days. Our kids loved it. The 7 Fingers returned to London and Sadler’s Wells in 2010 with Psy, which we also loved – though it didn’t hit us in quite the same way as Traces first did (but then nothing could) – and they will soon be back in town with their latest show, Sequence 8, which they created in 2012 to celebrate their ten year anniversary. We wouldn’t miss anything this company do – they are that good – and strongly advise that you don’t either. Sequence 8 will sell out – their shows always do – so do book tickets now.
