To Kill a Mockingbird

We haven’t seen this production of To Kill a Mockingbird, adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, but we kicked ourselves for not getting tickets quickly enough when it was on at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre last year. It received rave reviews and sold out quickly. We heard from several people who did see it, that the production, directed by Timothy Sheader and starring American actor Robert Sean Leonard (who we’ve seen on stage in New York; he’s fantastic), is brilliantly and inventively done –  from the sets to the music, the acting to the direction. And of course, Harper Lee’s seminal book is lodged in all our collective imagination, so to see it set out in front of us, sensitively and imaginatively, is surely a treat not to miss. We’re booking tickets now.
