PHOTOGRAPHY & TALKS
19 - 22 May 2016
With 90 exhibitors, 480 artists, 33 talks, 4 exhibitions and 2 installations, PhotoLondon at Somerset House definitely has a lot to offer. If you find the sheer volume a little overwhelming, here is our guide to what to see. First up, there are some particularly great talks but we’d recommend you book asap as tickets are selling out quickly. Top of our list is: Nick Knight with Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Nadav Kander with Sandy Nairne, Mary McCartney with Philippe Garner, Don McCullin with Simon Baker (a real favourite, McCullin is excellent company), Edmund de Waal with Garry Fabian Miller, Martin Parr with William A.Ewing, Sophy Rickett and Hannah Starkey plus Miles Aldridge with Francis Hodgson. Also, don’t miss the Don McCullin exhibition and, new this year, the series of curated guided tours which will pick out the best stands to see. Highlights will include rare original prints by the 19th century pioneer William Henry Fox Talbot, Yousuf Karsh’s renowned portrait of Winston Churchill, Erwin Blumenfeld’s Vogue cover images, and more recent work by Patrick Demarchelier, Bob Carlos Clarke and Thomas Struth.
