7 - 18 October 2020
This year’s BFI London Film Festival has a brilliant line-up. This year for the first time ever you will be able to access over 50 virtual premieres online and be able to watch at home. These are broken into categories like Laugh, Love, Debate and Dare – where you might find Elisabeth Moss starring in Shirley, and Family where the latest Pixar film Soul stars Hamilton’s Daveed Diggs, Angela Bassett, Tina Fey and Jamie Foxx. As well as these virtual screenings, BFI Southbank has now re-opened with safety measures in place. Some of the best new films are being released here (and then at cinemas around the UK), including the timely and much-anticipated Mangrove from Steve McQueen that charts the true story of Mangrove 9, the black activist group that clashed with the police at a 70’s protest march and the race trial that ensued. It will screen for free and open the festival on 7 October. The program also includes Ammonite which features a love story between Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet, and Supernova with a love story between Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. Tickets go on sale to BFI Members from 10am on 15 September and to the public from 10am 21 September. Find the full program and book tickets here.
