Book now for Marina Abramovic and Simon Armitage

Two events this October are worth booking now. Firstly to Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage in the Lake District where he wrote most of his much-loved poems. Here, on 1 October there will be a very special live event with Poet Laureate Simon Armitage in honour of National Poetry Day and to celebrate Dove Cottage’s re-opening after a mutli-million pound renovation. Simon’s reading will combine his own poetry with some of his favourite Wordsworth poems. The performance will also be live streamed from Grasmere and will not be available after the event, so do book a ticket to listen from home, they cost £7 and can be pre-ordered here.

Secondly, if you didn’t get to see Marina Abramović’s Mixed Reality performance piece, The Life at the Serpentine Gallery last year, it will be shown at Christie’s from 8 – 22 October. The ground-breaking piece allows viewers to have a digital encounter with the artist herself via a wearable spatial computing device. A dimensional photo rather like a hologram appears, before evaporating into thin air and it’s the first of its kind to be sold at auction. Tickets are free but must be pre-booked here. Open Monday – Friday 10am-6pm, weekends 12-5pm.
