Whilst we can shop online, there’s something so festive about getting out and browsing in person. If you’re shopping in the West End then keep energy levels up at South Molton Street at Christmas where Kerb are popping up for 2 weeks only (Wed-Sat 9-19 December) with street food stalls serving hot Indian kati rolls, wood fired Turkish flatbread, jollof rice and more. Nearby, Selfridges have opened a Christmas Market on the Mews (2 December-3 January) tucked around the back of the store. Shop, sip a mulled wine and have a go on the carousel.
For sustainable shopping from small traders, Christmas Sundays at Portobello are running on 13th and 20th December. Expect vintage clothes, stalls from artisan makers, wreaths, greenery and a fully festive atmosphere. And don’t miss the Festive Flea at Vinegar Yard (every Saturday and Sunday until 20 December) where 40 hand-picked traders will be showing their wares. There will be vintage fashion, antiques, jewellery, lighting, Christmas trees, decorations and hand-made gifts from artisan makers. Plus mulled wine and churros to keep you going.
Finally, to buy directly from artists and makers’, head to the Clockwork Artists’ Open Studios (13-14 December 11am-5pm at 38A Southwell Road, Camberwell SE5 9PG). The collective includes Badgers’ Velvet who will be selling her beautiful remodelled antique jewellery.
