Hurray for the Queen. After 70 years on the throne there are parties being planned all over the country for her four-day Platinum Jubilee weekend this June. You can join the Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 5th June, as well as find out about the Jubilee street parties here. In London, North Audley Street will be closed to traffic for a free majestic summer fête 2-3 June with a communal feast table running all along the street, as well as entertainment like face painting, live sketching fashion illustrations from Anjelica Roselyn and jazz. It is worth booking ahead if you’d like to hear the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Choral Society and the Bach Choir performing at Royal Festival Hall on 4th June. And do make sure to turn to the back page of this month’s House & Garden magazine to read Sophie Dahl’s wonderful story about the Queen and the BFG.

If you’re hosting a party the great question will be what cake to make? Take inspiration from Fortnum & Mason’s Jubilee Pudding competition. The five finalists have now been chosen – whittled down from 5000 entrants – and the winner will be announced by the Duchess of Cornwall and Mary Berry on 12 May on BBC1. We also love the sound of the Jubilee fun at Heckfield Place that includes a cake decorating competition judged by Skye Gyngell.

Sotheby’s are hosting a Jubilee Arts Festival from 28 May – 15 June. The galleries will be taken over by specially curated exhibitions of royal portraits and sparkling aristocratic jewels – many of which are loaned from prestigious private collections. There are also some great talks and a Family Day – find all the details here.

A Little Bird - Superbloom

And we can’t wait to see Superbloom, the sea of wildflowers that has been sewn all around the Tower of London especially for the Jubilee. Over 20 million seeds have been scattered in the 13th century moat and from June to September you’ll be able to wander around the weaving paths and slide down the Superbloom slide. Book your tickets here.
