As early fans of the Fabled Thread we are delighted by its expansion. The new Islington studio is the place to visit from 15th – 20th November where there will be six female craftswomen giving workshops. Think reverse glass painting with Emily Maude and rag rugging with Lu Mason, as well as embroidery sessions with Eppie Thompson herself. It will also be an open studios event with lots of things to buy, an enormous Christmas tree and a Meet-the-Artist session on 19th November with brilliant Alice Pattullo.

We’re great fans of Fine Cell Work – the charity that works with UK prisons, training and employing prisoners in needlework. Their latest collaboration is with Studio Ashby and comes in bright jolts of colour. We love the carp cushions, Californian poppy tea tray and this Nothing But Blue Skies cushion.
ThreadWritten run embroidery workshops that you can sign up to online – for all levels from beginners to experienced stitchers looking to learn new techniques like monograms or Hungarian embroidery. Based in San Francisco, keep an eye on the timings to make sure you can join in daytime or evening hours from the UK. Passionate about textiles, they also run embroidery and textile tours – book now for Budapest, Hungary, Transylvania and Romania in June 2023, and Porto, Evora and Arraiolos and Lisbon in August 2023 and meet local artisans, discover stitching techniques and source beautiful antique fabrics to take home.
We like following @thismanswork on Instagram where he posts about his creations. Made in Worcestershire and stitched by hand in Old Florentine Stitch, you can commission cushions via DM.
